Our Approach
At VB Psychotherapy, we use evidence-based approaches. Healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. That’s why we tailor every session to your goals, values, and pace. Our commitment is to meet you where you are—with compassion, curiosity, and the tools to help you move forward.
We use an integrative approach, drawing from a variety of approaches, including:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps you navigate difficult thoughts and emotions without getting stuck in them. Through ACT, you’ll learn to accept what’s out of your control, clarify your values, and take meaningful steps toward a life that feels fulfilling and aligned with what truly matters to you
ACT is often used for anxiety and worry, depression, negative self-talk, feeling stuck or lacking direction, or perfectionism

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps you understand the link between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. It teaches you to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge negative beliefs, and develop practical strategies. We often include mindfulness-based practices with CBT as well.
CBT is often used for stress, anxiety, depression, negative self-talk and beliefs, intrusive thoughts, difficulty managing emotions, and behavioural challenges such as procrastination.

Client-Centered Therapy
Client-Centered Therapy (sometimes called Person-Centred Therapy) is a warm, supportive approach that puts you at the heart of the process. It’s based on the idea that every person has the inner resources needed to grow, heal, and create change in their life—with the right environment and support.
Your therapist creates a safe, non-judgmental space where you can fully explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The focus is on building a genuine, trusting relationship so that you feel truly heard, understood, and accepted—sometimes for the very first time.

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a goal-oriented approach that focuses on your strengths and what’s working in your life. Instead of dwelling on problems, SFT helps you identify solutions, set clear goals, and take practical steps toward positive change, building momentum and confidence along the way
SFT often helps with setting and achieving personal or professional goals, overcoming specific challenges or obstacles, building on strengths and resources, increasing motivation and confidence, quickly developing practical strategies for change
